Jakarta—Upstream oil and gas operations in the country continue expanding to increase national oil and gas production. PSC Contractors PT Pertamina EP and Total E&P Indonesie plan to spud 5 development wells in the period of September to October 2017.
PT Pertamina EP plans to spud BBS/B1 well of Subang Field, SBK#PX-A well of Tarakan Field and B-1513 well of Bunyu Field. Meanwhile, Total E&P Indonesie plans to spud TN-G87 and TN-L105, which are development wells of Pertamina Hulu Mahakam.
Spudding refers to the very start of well drilling activities. SKK Migas conveyed to the three PSC contractors to conduct drilling activities by complying with and observing the prevailing laws and regulations and sticking to Good Engineering Practices. All progress in the performance of the work, operational constraints and increased costs as well as changes in the scope of work must be communicated to SKK Migas.
Drilling is a core activity in upstream oil and gas activities. Oil and gas cannot be discovered or lifted to the surface without drilling. SKK Migas expects that all stakeholders, especially the communities in the vicinity of the operation areas support the well spudding activities conducted by those three PSC Contractors. (alf)
