JAKARTA – The Special Task Force for Upstream Oil and Gas Business Activities (SKK Migas) will hold the Third International Convention on Indonesian Upstream Oil and Gas (ICIUOG) from November 23-25 as a hybrid event in Nusa Dua, Bali. The hope is that this event will be able to attract investors in the upstream oil and gas sector.
Picking the title “Boosting Investment and Adapting Energy Transition through Stronger Collaborations”, this international convention event aims at attracting investment in the upstream oil and gas sector through policy facilitation, shows potential, builds collaboration, and presents awards related to outstanding performance. It is also intended as a follow-up action to further achievement of targets in upstream oil and gas, including the oil production of 1 million BOPD of and gas production of 12 BSCFD by 2030.
The Chairman of the 2022 ICIUOG Organizing Committee, Mohammad Kemal said that there are three important issues to be discussed in the 2022 ICIUOG, namely the Economic Recovery, Energy Security, and Energy Transition. These three are in line with Indonesian government programs and Indonesia's more sustainable targets, including the target of achieving net zero emissions by 2060 and phasing-out coal GHG by 2040. "We hope to attract up to 1000 on-site participants and 10,000 online participants to 2022 ICIUOG,” said Kemal.
The previous ICIUIOG of 2021, held from November 29 - December 1, 2021, as a hybrid event by SKK Migas and assisted by several relevant stakeholders, succeeded in attracting 150,000 participants from 24 countries. In addition, 41 commercial agreements were signed. From these agreements, the potential profit for the Indonesian oil and gas industry was US$1.4 billion. "This definitely helps the progress of Indonesia's upstream oil and gas industry to achieve the oil and gas production target in 2030," he said.
Kemal revealed that, at the last year's event, the 2021 ICIUOG had 14 keynotes and panels, 13 pillar strategy themes, 11 concurrent forums and breakouts, and more than 120 speakers. This event also presented 22 awards to various KKKS. In addition, the keynote speakers who appeared at 2021ICIUOG include the Deputy Chairperson of Commission VII of the House of Representatives Maman Abdurrahman, the Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Pandjaitan, the Coordinating Minister for the Economy Airlangga Hartarto, the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Arifin Tasrif, the Minister of Finance Sri Mulyani, the Minister of Investment Bahlil Lahadalia, the Deputy Minister of Finance Suahasil Nazara, and the Deputy I of Minister of BUMN Pahala Mansury.
In the 2021 ICIUIOG, the government reiterated its commitment to achieving the target of the Indonesian Upstream Oil and Gas Industry. This is in line with the statement of the Coordinating Minister for the Economy, Airlangga Hartarto. “We will continue to support oil and gas production for economic prosperity and energy security. We will implement the support through the implementation of environmentally friendly programs and the development of 'green' products," he said last year at the 2021 ICIUIOG.
Kemal hopes that through this grand event for the oil and gas industry, the government's commitment to ease of doing business for oil and gas investors and the ratification of the Oil and Gas Bill can be actualized. Thus, the Oil and Gas Investment Climate in Indonesia would continue to improve and the 2030 oil and gas production target can be achieved.
